ROM SidekicK

The SidekicK, ROM’s innovative side-door delivery solution, stores conveniently in a carrier mounted transversely under the trailer. It folds and unfolds. Larger wheels for improved performance are the latest innovation for the SidekicK. During set-up, these wheels deploy and allow the ramp to easily move from door to door. While off-loading product, the wheels retract and stabiling legs enhance driver safety. The SidekicK reduces driver fatigue form lifting and moving conventional ramps.

The RoadwarrioR and SidekicK safety walkramps are designed to ensure faster, safer deliveries while reducing costs. Here's how:

Increase productivity.
Our ramp systems offer the best walk surfaces for quick and efficient product offloading. Open castings keep the ramps clear of build-up and the lightweight design eases ramp setup.
Improve safety.
Our ramps help you reduce workers' comp concerns. Strong yet light magnesium castings make the ramp easy to handle and the slip-resistant walk surface ensures safe deliveries in all work conditions. The RoadwarrioR light castings keep the 12-foot ramp at just 98 lbs; 14-foot is 113 lbs; and 16-foot is just 128 lbs lessening driver fatigue and reducing injuries. The SidekicK weighs slightly more, but large wheels for improved performance deploy during set-up and allow the ramp to easily move from door to door. While off-loading product, the wheels retract and stabiling legs enhance driver safety.
Save money.
Our ramps last the life of your trailer. The unique reversible design doubles ramp life. If the traction nubs wear down on one side, turning the ramp over reveals a brand-new walk surface.

Drawings and specifications shown are for standard width ramps and carriers. We have also included Special Considerations to help you when specifying a SidekicK safety walkramp.

SidekicK - Carrier Dimensions

In working with your trailer manufacturer (OEM) or dealer, please note the following items that could affect the performance of your walkramp and carrier system:

  • Rear deck and/or side door configuration. The trailer floor must accommodate the ramp apron (ramp securing device). Your OEM or dealer must determine whether to order an apron or the hook option, depending on whether the ramp will be seated in the buckplate or threshold. Certain door thresholds or rear deck configurations cause the ramp rails to interfere with placing the ramp apron on a flat surface or prevent the door from closing while ramp is in use. Do not notch rails. Use the hook option or call R·O·M for advice.
  • Carrier mounting options. There are several methods for mounting the carrier under the trailer. Ask which is best for your trailer.
  • Pintle hook. The OEM or dealer will need to note the installation site of any pintle hook and how it could affect the operation of the ramp and/or carrier end gate.
  • Sliding tandem. Ensure that the sliding tandem will not affect carrier installation.
  • ICC bumper. The ICC bumper needs to be mounted to the undercarriage so that the carrier installation will not be impeded.
  • Carrier recess. The OEM or dealer will need to make sure that the carrier is slightly recessed to prevent possible damage when backing up to docks and loading platforms.
Enclosed Carrier
Enclosed Carrier

The single-hinged SidekicK stores transversely under the trailer in a fully-enclosed carrier, which prevents debris, snow, ice and mud from covering the ramp during travel. The carrier is conveniently located near the curbside doors. Roller casters located under the ramp allow the ramp to glide easily in and out of the carrier.

Welded Steel Legs
Welded Steel Legs

To begin set-up, the driver pulls the ramp from the carrier enough to allow the ramp legs to unfold. The legs swing around until latches are engaged for added stability. Telescoping wheels are automatically deployed with this section.

Built-in Stop
Built-in Stop

The driver continues to pull the ramp out until it hits a built-in stop on the carrier. The ramp can now be easily moved from door to door and positioned for off-loading.

Hinged Construction
Hinged Construction

Once the ramp apron is positioned on the deck, simply unfold the wing. The folding action of the ramp wing retracts the wheels up into the legs to create a stable walking surface.

Safe Off-loading
Safe Off-Loading

The SidekicK's industry-leading design features, including anti-slip traction and durable steel legs, ensure safe offloading and make it the industry's leading safety walkramp.

Easy to Maneuver
Easy to Maneuver

Large retractable wheels deploy, allowing the operator to easily move the ramp from door to door for offloading, then retract into the legs when the ramp is set up, providing added stability.

Deck-to-Ramp Apron

The deck-to-ramp apron ensures a smooth transition from the ramp to the trailer deck.

Apron Bolts

Apron bolts secure the perforated ramp apron to the trailer deck.

Optional Heavy-Duty Bolt Mounting
Optional Heavy-Duty Bolt Mounting

An optional heavy-duty bolt mounting can be used when an apron can not be accommodated.

Lightweight Magnesium
Lightweight Magnesium

It's lightweight aluminum construction and magnesium castings produce a strong yet lightweight ramp, reducing driver fatigue.

Open Castings
Open Castings

Reduce injuries and lost product from slips and falls. Open grating across the full-width walk surface prevents the build-up of snow, ice, mud, produce and other debris, ensuring superior traction in all conditions.

Steel Legs
Aggressive Traction

Full width, aggressive traction nodules are staggered across the entire ramp surface to enhance delivery speed, productivity and safety.
