Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why choose LinksGuard over other closures?

  1. LinksGuard closures, made to order for a wide variety of settings, offer open, flexible security for maximum protection at an affordable price. The cost effective security chain closures are easily installed, can be operated by one person, and store out of the way when not in use.

Q. How are the gates operated?

  1. LinksGuard closures are operated manually with side sliding gates.

Q. What choices are there for the gate opening?

  1. Single slide gates close on one side of the opening and stack to the other side. Bi-parting gates close in the middle of the opening and stack on both sides.

Q. How are the gates stored/stacked?

  1. Gates can be mounted to stack within the opening or to stack beyond the opening for maximum use of space. Closures can stack to one or both sides of the opening.

Q. How are the gates mounted?

  1. Gates may be mounted underneath a header or lintel, as well as face mounted on the outside or inside of an opening.

Q. What materials are used in LinksGuard?

  1. LinksGuard gates are manufactured from steel chain links woven into a secure curtain. Series 1000 and 2000 closures are constructed of No. 9 steel (.148 inch diameter) with a 4-5/8 inch mesh pattern. Dock Gates are constructed of .192 diameter steel in a 7x9 inch pattern. Zinc plated chain is the standard finish on all model gates. The chain is shiny silver, with an appearance similar to chrome.

Q. How should I measure the width of the opening?

  1. To get the standard width measurement, be sure to measure the opening in two places: at the top and bottom of the opening.

Q. How should I measure the height of the opening?

  1. To get the standard height measurement of the opening, be sure to measure the height in several locations. Normal gates are 3/4" off the floor when installed and are built normally to the shortest dimension. Watch for irregularities in the flooring and be sure there is room above the opening for face mounted gates. Always measure the "finished" floor to the top of the track.

Q. Does LinksGuard come in different colors?

  1. LinksGuard Series 1000 and 2000 closures have coating options in 11 colors: bronze, copper, silver, black, brown, red, white, blue, yellow, tan and green.

Q. Does LinksGuard come in different designs?

  1. LinksGuard adapts to many applications: mall front, store within a store, behind glass, food courts, industrial, commercial, and institutional applications, parking garages, warehouses, dock gates, and more. For radius layouts, Series 2000 closures can go around corners and turns.
