Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who should purchase DuroMatic Doors?

  1. DuroMatic Doors are ideal for refrigerated trucks and trailer applications where product integrity, driver productivity and reduced wear on cooling systems are integral to efficient operations

Q. From what materials is the DuroMatic constructed?

  1. Constructed of heavy-duty corrosion resistant galvanized and zinc plated steel. The mounting hardware is heavy-duty mounting plates with 1/4" mounting hardware. Strips are hung from corrosion-resistant galvanized steel with a durable aluminum guard for protection from forklifts and other abuse. The operating mechanism is a trolley containing sealed, permanently lubricated steel roller bearings.

Q. How is the door operated?

  1. The driver prepares for offloading by deploying his ramp and opening the trailer/truck door. The DuroMatic is in a closed position, allowing easy driver access to the compartment while maintaining cool temperatures and keeping warm, moist air out of the unit. The driver loads his hand truck, pulls the DuroMatic handle to open the curtain and, upon ensuring safe passage down the ramp, offloads the product. The DuroMatic strips automatically retract to the closed position, maintaining temperatures while the driver is making his delivery.

Q: Can an activation handle be installed on both sides of the DuroMatic?

  1. Yes, an activation handle can be installed on both sides of the DuroMatic as long as each handle is on the same side of the wall. Q: How far does the DuroMatic system project from the trailer wall?

  1. The DuroMatic system mounts to the wall where the wall and ceiling come together. The unit projects out from the wall 4.5 inches, and down from the ceiling 7.5 inches. The lowest point of the unit is higher than the lowest point on the second condenser unit in the trailer. The DuroMatic is designed with a low enough profile where contact with a forklift or other loading/unloading equipment is not an issue.

Q: How easy is it to replace the PVC strips on the DuroMatic?

  1. Replacing the freezer-grade PVC strips on the DuroMatic is fast and easy. It takes less than a minute to replace a PVC strip! The strips mount over bolts and are held in place with a clamping plate. Just loosen the nuts, remove the plate, replace the strip and replace the plate and nuts.
